Trackitnow’s venture into motorsport has had a speedy and successful start.
Chris Simms and Andy Tomalin agreed at this year’s Racing Car Show to support veteran driver Ed McDonough from Wootton in carrying the company colours as he contests three British National speed championships throughout 2016.
Ed, who has raced in many categories over several decades, is running a 1973 Dulon Formula Ford in the British Automobile Racing Club, Hillclimb and Sprint Association and the Service Hydraulics championships in some fifteen sprint and hillclimb meetings.
The season opened at Rockingham near Corby on March 20 when a 140 cars showed up for a sprint event at the high speed circuit. In his first outing in the car, Ed survived a spin in practice and managed two timed runs, winning his class in all three championships. Some events count towards one championship, some towards two and a number for all three. That meant that the Trackitnow team was leading the Formula Ford class in all three series.
The next outing was on April 10 at Harewood Hillclimb near Leeds. Again a large field turned out at this scenic venue, which features a twisty course and a high speed straight between some houses. Despite a faulty starter requiring a bump start, Ed again managed to win his class in the HSA and Service Hydraulics championships.
After these two opening events Ed and Trackitnow lead the class in all three series, and Ed is 10th overall in the HSA and 15th overall in the Service Hydraulics rounds, leads the Pre-1975 Award and is 3rd in the Single Seater League....a great start to the year.
