Trackitnow.....on the way to winning
Early in the year Managing Director Chris Simms and Technical Director Andy Tomalin made the decision to support a modest motorsport programme to help broaden the Trackitnow image and raise aware of the company’s work.
Trackitnow is backing veteran race driver Ed McDonough in three British national speed championships in sprints on circuits and hillclimbs. Ed runs an historic Dulon Formula Ford single-seater race car. The events started back in March with a sprint at Rockingham, and hillclimbs at Harewood in Yorkshire and Loton Park in Shropshire, and another sprint at MIRA. The car runs in the Formula Ford class, and scores points by achieving target times set at previous events. The Dulon is a 1973 so has to match target times established by cars in the class which are nearly 20 years younger.
In spite of a down on power engine, and on-going starter problems, Ed has managed to score points in his class in every meeting. The effort slowed as the engine was given a rebuild. All the problems were sorted and in the last three weeks, Ed has won his class at Curburough, Blyton Park, Llandow circuit and the distant Welsh hillclimb at Llys Y Fran. This has put Trackitnow in the class lead of the three championships, and ed is now well up in the overall standings in each series....against much newer and more powerful cars.
Upcoming events at Wiscombe in Devon, Harewood, Aintree and Shelsley Walsh bring Ed and Trackitnow closer to the possibility of three championship titles...a real achievement for a small team effort. The company has appeared, as a result, in the magazines and newsletters of the various championships as well as in the news of the Guild of Motoring Writers, of which Ed is a member.
